iwoca in London is hiring a Back End Tech Lead for the Funnel Platform to guide shared services and frameworks powering our engineering platform. You’ll shape the technical vision, own the team roadmap, and mentor engineers in a hands-on leadership role.

This hybrid role offers London-based or UK-wide remote work. You’ll collaborate with commercial funnel teams and other platforms, drive robust, scalable systems, and apply modern Python/Django and PostgreSQL skills, with a focus on high-quality

Qualifications

• Experience developing and owning shared back end services and shaping how teams build on top.
• Experience building distributed systems in complex business domains.
• Advanced proficiency in software development.
• Confidence to partner with colleagues from other disciplines to challenge assumptions.
• Demonstrated leadership: mentoring juniors and guiding cross-functional projects.
• Use of AI in daily flow to accelerate boilerplate and complex decisions.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of shared frameworks and services used by other teams.
• Collaborate with funnel and platform teams to build a shared roadmap.
• Own health and reliability of shared services and review contributions.
• Shape architectural improvements focused on developer experience and resilience.
• Manage and mentor engineers, overseeing performance and growth.
• Define engineering best practices across the platform group.
