Job summary

GIOS Technology Limited in Sheffield is recruiting a Backend Engineer focusing on Python and Generative AI. The role is hybrid, with three in-office days weekly, and involves building Python backend apps, RESTful APIs and scalable distributed systems.

You'll work on Generative AI solutions, including LLM integrations, RAG, and prompt engineering, with exposure to embeddings, vector databases and diverse data stores, plus cloud, containers, and CI/CD practices.

Qualifications

• Experience developing Python backend applications and RESTful APIs.
• Hands-on work with Generative AI and LLM integrations.
• Familiarity with embeddings, vector databases, relational and NoSQL databases.
• Experience with cloud platforms, containers, CI/CD, and testing.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills; production support and AI evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Develop Python backend applications, RESTful APIs and scalable distributed systems.
• Build Generative AI solutions, including LLM integrations, RAG, prompt engineering and AI agent workflows.
• Work with embeddings, vector databases, relational and NoSQL databases, data modelling and API integrations.
• Work with cloud platforms, containerisation, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and secure software development practices.
• Provide production support, monitoring, debugging and AI evaluation; frontend experience with React and TypeScript is desirable.

We are hiring: Backend Engineer - Python & Generative AI

Location: Sheffield- Hybrid- Weekly 3 days in-office.

• Strong commercial experience developing Python backend applications, RESTful APIs and scalable distributed systems, using frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask or Django.
• Hands-on experience building Generative AI solutions, including LLM integrations, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), prompt engineering and AI agent workflows.
• Good understanding of embeddings, vector databases, relational and NoSQL databases, data modelling and API integrations.
• Experience with cloud platforms, containerisation, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and secure software development practices.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with experience in production support, monitoring, debugging and AI evaluation. Frontend experience with React and TypeScript is desirable.
