Job summary

Software Search is hiring a Generative AI Engineer to design, build, and deploy production-ready GenAI solutions in a hybrid London/Sheffield role.

You will work across AI/ML, Python, APIs, and cloud platforms, moving useful AI use cases from prototype to production while collaborating with product teams, software engineers, data specialists and business stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in AI/ML, software engineering, or data-focused development.
• Hands-on Generative AI, LLMs, RAG, prompt engineering, or AI agents.
• Strong Python development experience.
• Experience with APIs and integrating AI services into applications.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Knowledge of embeddings, vector databases, semantic search, and retrieval workflows.
• Ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Generative AI Engineer

Salary: £70,000 + benefits
Location: London / Sheffield

We are supporting a growing technology organisation that is hiring a Generative AI Engineer to help design, build, and deploy production-ready GenAI solutions.

This hybrid role can be based from London or Sheffield and is ideal for an AI Engineer, Machine Learning Engineer, or Software Engineer with 3 to 5 years of experience working across Generative AI, LLMs, Python, APIs, and cloud-based AI applications.

Generative AI Engineer Role Overview

As a Generative AI Engineer, you will work on the development of practical AI solutions that use large language models, retrieval-augmented generation, AI agents, automation, and intelligent search.

You will help move AI use cases from prototype into production, working closely with product teams, software engineers, data specialists, and business stakeholders.

The role will suit someone who is hands-on, commercially aware, and confident building AI-enabled applications that solve real business problems.

Desirable Skills

• Experience with OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Anthropic, LangChain, LlamaIndex, Hugging Face, or similar tools.
• Experience deploying AI models or AI applications into production.
• Knowledge of MLOps, CI/CD, monitoring, and model evaluation.
• Experience with containerisation tools such as Docker or Kubernetes.
• Understanding of AI governance, responsible AI, data privacy, and security considerations.
