Job summary

Goldman Sachs London is seeking an Associate backend engineer to join our Engineering Division. You will work across embedded and core teams to build scalable platforms, collaborating with trading, sales, asset management and finance to deliver high-impact solutions.

The role focuses on backend Java and Spring development, with MongoDB integration, micro-services architecture and mature SDLC practices. A strong communicator and team player is essential for global collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years experience with Java, Spring & Non-SQL technologies such as MongoDB.
• Experience with micro-services, Java deployments & DevOps tools such as GitLab.
• Full understanding of software development lifecycle best practices.
• An ability to drive to goals and milestones while maintaining attention to detail.
• Strong communication and documentation skills, both verbal and written, for global teams.
• Excellent judgment, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong team player with experience working with global teams.
• Self-motivated with excellent time management and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with trading, sales, asset management, banking, finance and others to build and automate solutions.
• Join core engineering teams to provide reliable, scalable platforms for data engineering, ML, networking and tooling.
• Innovate with UI/UX designers, data scientists and cloud engineers in an agile environment to deliver impact.
• Backend focus with Java, Spring and MongoDB, including distributed services, testing and SDLC processes.
