Job summary

JPMorgan Chase in London is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join the Backend Engineering Platform. This role focuses on a Spring Boot-based framework enabling product teams to build and run financial services at scale.

You will work with SDLC and Infrastructure teams, promoting standard practices, and shaping technical direction across Investments' technology landscape. Strong Java/Spring and banking domain awareness are essential.

Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in Java and Spring Boot (or similar) framework.
• Experience with build tools such as Maven and Gradle and their role in SDLC standardisation.
• Experience with building APIs in micro-service architectures and distributed systems.
• Solid understanding of software engineering principles, design patterns, and best practices.
• Excellent communication, mentoring, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to drive change and influence engineering direction.
• Passion for standardisation, process improvement and engineering excellence.
• Understanding importance of controls and compliance in regulated organisations.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend frameworks and libraries using Java and Spring Boot.
• Build components that provide out-of-the-box implementations of functional and non-functional requirements.
• Collaborate with product engineering teams to understand needs and deliver solutions.
• Tackle complex technical challenges and provide guidance to the team.
• Collaborate with SDLC and Infrastructure teams to enable Platform as a Product
