Tesco UK in Welwyn Garden City is hiring a Backend Engineer (SDE2) for our Fulfilment platform. This hybrid, full-time role focuses on scalable Java services that support Tesco's order fulfilment operations.

You will develop backend features, collaborate with product managers, and mentor junior engineers while contributing to DevOps practices across the stack. The position offers a competitive package and opportunities to impact Tesco's customer fulfilment operations.

Formación

• Experience building and operating scalable distributed Java applications.
• Experience with agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
• Ability to collaborate with engineers, product managers and stakeholders.

Responsabilidades

• Backend Development: build scalable Java-based backend services, APIs and microservices for fulfilment workflows.
• Feature Delivery: ship end-to-end stories with backend integration as needed.
• Technical Contribution: own medium-sized features and contribute to design and delivery.
• Collaboration: work closely with engineers, product managers and stakeholders.
• Code Quality: write clean, maintainable code and contribute to peer reviews.
• Support & Mentorship: onboard junior engineers and share knowledge across the team.
• Continuous Improvement: apply best practices and improve development processes.
