Job summary

System1 is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to shape our AI platform by building Python backend services and RESTful APIs. You will work within a cross-functional product team, partnering with Product Manager, Designer and Team Lead to ship scalable SaaS solutions from the ground up, in a remote UK role with occasional travel.

Qualifications

• Strong backend experience with Python.
• Experience designing REST APIs, ideally spec-driven.
• SaaS software development and production deployment at scale.
• Hands-on cloud platform experience (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Familiarity with infrastructure as code.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and own Python backend services for our AI platform.
• Work API-first and spec-driven, defining clean REST contracts.
• Build MCP servers to expose data and capabilities to AI agents.
• Collaborate within a cross-functional product team to deliver outcomes.
• Support deployment, testing, observability and reliability at scale.
