Job summary

Yorkshire Building Society is seeking a Cloud Platform Engineer to deliver, operate, and continuously improve our Azure cloud platform, ensuring secure and scalable capabilities across the organisation.

You will build and enhance Azure foundational services, implement automation with Terraform, GitHub Actions and GitOps, manage AKS clusters, observability tooling, and CI/CD pipelines, while collaborating with security and engineering teams to embed best practices and drive platform reliability.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on Azure engineering experience spanning networking, IAM, policies and core services.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code and automation tooling such as Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, and GitOps.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration across cross-functional teams.
• Solid understanding of SRE principles, observability and operational best practices in cloud environments.
• Security-first mindset with enterprise cloud security governance experience.

Responsibilities

• Deliver, operate, and continuously improve the Azure cloud platform.
• Build, manage, and enhance Azure foundational services and automate using Terraform, GitHub Actions, and GitOps.
• Operate and maintain platform services including AKS clusters, observability tooling, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaborate with engineering, security, and technology teams to embed best practices and secure solutions.
• Develop reusable modules, templates, and patterns to support cloud-native delivery and incident reviews.
