Job summary

Medidata is seeking an AWS WorkSpaces Engineer who will be the primary architect and administrator of our cloud desktop infrastructure. The role covers end-to-end lifecycle management, large-scale deployment, image management, and high-level support.

Qualifications

• AWS certification required or equivalent experience with cloud infrastructure.
• Experience with AWS WorkSpaces deployment and administration.
• Experience administering Windows Active Directory and related services.

Responsibilities

• Deploy AWS WorkSpaces across multiple AWS accounts.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot AWS WorkSpaces issues.
• Differentiate between application, OS, network, and hardware problems.
• Present complex technical information to non-technical audiences.
• Collaborate with AWS CloudsOps to develop scalable AWS solutions.
• Provide user support via phone, email or in person.
• Attend meetings to ensure requirements and deliverables are on target.

About the Team:

Working remotely and reporting to the Director of Cloud Infrastructure, as an AWS WorkSpaces Engineer, you will be the primary architect and administrator of our cloud desktop infrastructure. You will oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of AWS WorkSpaces—from large-scale deployment and image management to high-level escalation support. Your goal is to deliver a seamless, high-performing virtual desktop experience, driving cost efficiencies and technical excellence across the organisation. You will provide seamless Tier 1 to Tier 3 support to resolve immediate end-user challenges while simultaneously engineering our AWS infrastructure that prevents those issues from recurring. You will own "Day 1 & 2" onboarding and optimization of our global AWS WorkSpaces experience to ensure a high-performance, cost-effective, and secure workspace for every employee.

Responsibilities:

• Deploy AWS Workspaces in multiple AWS accounts
• Diagnose, troubleshooting configuration issues with AWS Workspaces which are not operating as expected
• Distinguish between application, operating system, network, and hardware problems
• Present complex technical information to non-technical audiences
• Collaborate with AWS CloudsOps engineering teams to evaluate and develop scalable AWS solutions to better access resources in AWS accounts
• Provide users with support on technical, operational, and user/account-related issues, on the phone, by email/ticketing system or in person
• Attend meetings with multiple stakeholders to ensure requirements are assessed and deliverables are on target
• Evaluate ways to provide Amazon Workspaces as a cost-effective and efficient offering
• Educate the wider team on best practices and provide high levels of service.
• Coordinate with other departments to ensure that you meet timely and efficient resolutions and uphold customer satisfaction.
• Maintain proper tracking of problem resolution and conduct trend analysis for reference and management reporting

Qualifications:

Candidates should ideally hold one of the certifications below:

• AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate
• AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner

Your Competencies:

• Deep understanding of AWS Cloud infrastructure, operating at scale
• Ability to review, understand and extract data from Nuvens Workspace Manager or equivalent endpoint management solution
• Prior experience administering Windows and Active Directory is essential (AWS hosted Active Directory a plus!)
• Experience in the development and revisions of Training Presentations, Quick Reference Guides and Other Support Materials
• Strong Customer Service & communication skills, both telephone and email
• Can work with minimal supervision, prioritising work within tight deadlines
• Previous AWS console and Synchronet Click administration is a big plus
• Experience creating Windows images, Linux/Ubuntu deployments, and troubleshooting both OS platforms
• Availability for out of hours support if required
