Job summary

Tesco Insurance and Money Services in Edinburgh is seeking an Engineering Lead to shape the future of our AWS Platform Engineering team. You will drive strategy, lead a skilled group of engineers, and ensure the cloud services are secure, observable, and easy for internal teams to consume.

You will balance technical leadership with people management, deliver the roadmap, and foster a culture of innovation and operational excellence across architecture, security, product, and operations.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership of platform or cloud engineering teams.
• Ownership of platform strategy and cloud cost optimisation (FinOps).
• Experience with IaC using Terraform and CloudFormation.
• Designing secure, highly available cloud platforms with networking, IAM, and governance.
• Strong stakeholder and vendor management.

Responsibilities

• Lead AWS Platform Engineering team to deliver excellence.
• Define and deliver AWS platform strategy and roadmap.
• Drive IaC, automation, and self-service capabilities.
• Own AWS landing zones, governance frameworks, guardrails and standards.
• Ensure security, resilience, availability, and scalability of the platform.
• Build relationships with internal stakeholders and partners for successful delivery.
• Drive continuous improvement in cloud operations, observability, and incident management.
• Optimise cloud spend through FinOps and cost-efficiency initiatives.
