Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) in the United Kingdom is seeking a skilled Systems Engineer to support compute, database, storage and networking services. You will participate in 24/7 on-call rotations, drive automation, and maintain documentation while delivering reliable cloud operations in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires strong Linux fundamentals, network knowledge, and experience in a production, customer-focused setting, with a path toward improved operational excellence and scalable

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Knowledge of networking fundamentals.
• Experience in a 24/7 production environment.
• Experience with Linux systems administration and/or development.
• Experience in 2+ languages: Python, Java, Perl, PHP, Ruby or Bash/Shell.

Responsibilities

• Work proactively to solve potential problems and inefficiencies. Communicate clearly and collaborate with others to deliver results with minimal supervision.
• Participating in 24/7 on-call rotation to troubleshoot high severity issues.
• Analysing dashboards and investigating metrics with the vision for improvements.
• Troubleshooting and diagnosing problems and working on solutions.
• Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and runbooks for documentation.
• Discuss radical new approaches to automate operational issues, assess risks and develop creative solutions.
