Job summary

Amazon AWS UC is seeking a systems engineer to support Compute, Database, Storage, IoT and productivity apps in UC. You will join a region service team focused on customer experience and automation. A UK national who can obtain UK government security clearance is required.

You will participate in 24/7 on-call, analyze metrics and drive operational improvements. The role emphasizes solving complex problems with a mix of operations and networking expertise, and creating scalable SOPs and runbooks

Qualifications

• Proven ability to administer Linux systems in a production environment.
• Experience automating operational tasks using Bash, Python or Perl.
• Solid understanding of DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, routing and HTTP.

Responsibilities

• Proactively solve potential problems and communicate results with minimal supervision.
• Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation to troubleshoot high-severity issues.
• Analyze dashboards and investigate metrics to drive improvements.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose problems and implement solutions.
• Create and maintain SOPs and runbooks for documentation.
