Job summary

Barclays is seeking an Application Support Engineer based in Knutsford to ensure stability, availability and performance of critical business applications. You will monitor, support and resolve production incidents in line with ITIL, collaborating with engineering teams to improve reliability and operational resilience.

The role emphasizes proactive monitoring using Kibana, AppDynamics and CI/CD practices, with a focus on cloud and database systems.

Qualifications

Strong AWS knowledge from an application support perspective.
Experience with MS SQL including query analysis and troubleshooting.
Strong Unix/Linux administration and troubleshooting in production.

Responsibilities

Provide technical support for the service management function to resolve complex issues for a specific client or group of clients; develop the support model to improve service.
Execute preventative maintenance tasks on hardware and software and use monitoring tools to identify and address issues.
Maintain a knowledge base with documented cases for reference and self-service.
Analyze system logs and user reports to identify root causes and implement fixes or configuration changes.
Implement automations, monitoring enhancements, capacity management and resiliency measures.
Identify and remediate potential risks and issues; tune monitoring thresholds and alerts.
