AWS Application Support Engineer

Job summary

Jobtailor in Leeds is seeking an experienced Application Support/IT Support professional to provide 2nd line support for complex, internally developed applications and to own incidents through to resolution.

You will analyze logs, use monitoring tools and SQL queries, collaborate with Development, Infrastructure and suppliers, and contribute to knowledge management. On-call rotation applies.

Qualifications

• Experience in Application Support, IT Support or a similar technical role.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience supporting cloud-hosted applications, ideally within AWS environments.
• SQL experience and the ability to query and analyse data effectively.
• Knowledge of application logs, monitoring tools and debugging techniques.
• Familiarity with APIs, integrations and Windows/Linux environments.
• A proactive approach to continuous improvement and service excellence.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• IT-related degree, equivalent qualification or relevant industry experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide 2nd line support for complex, internally developed applications.
• Take ownership of technical incidents and drive them through to resolution.
• Investigate and resolve issues using logs, monitoring tools, application metrics and SQL queries.
• Work closely with Development, Infrastructure and third-party suppliers to troubleshoot complex problems.
• Support Incident, Problem, Change and Knowledge Management processes.
• Help maintain and continuously improve production environments, with a focus on automation and operational efficiency.
• Proactively identify and resolve issues before they impact customers and colleagues.
• Support the successful release of new features and applications into production.
• Create and maintain knowledge articles, runbooks and troubleshooting documentation.
• Contribute to service improvements that enhance system performance, stability and user experience.
• Participate in an on-call rota providing out-of-hours support.
