Job summary

Civil Aviation Authority is seeking a capable Flight Operations leader at Gatwick with hybrid working expectations. You will lead a team to optimise productivity, ensure compliant oversight, and develop robust training and governance across the FO capability area.

Responsibilities include mentoring FO staff, delivering risk-informed oversight and handling exemptions requests, while maintaining safety standards and regulatory alignment. 3 years+ in regulatory roles preferred.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of regulatory rules framework.
• Ability to analyse Management Information and adapt.
• Experience in regulatory environment incl. compliance monitoring and safety management systems.
• Strong communication skills in writing and speaking.
• Ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all seniority levels.
• Understanding of Performance Based Regulation, auditing and assessment techniques.
• Able to work effectively under pressure without supervision.
• Familiarity with Q-Pulse and BYD IT packages.
• Competencies in team training and development.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team to optimise productivity, quality and oversight plan delivery.
• Ensure FO colleagues operate safely and in compliance with legislation.
• Deliver key objectives and maintain standards within the team.
• Mentor and coach Flight Operations colleagues.
• Develop oversight and governance of the sector’s plan.
• Prioritise non-compliances and track corrective actions.
• Deliver staff training courses and develop courseware.
• Address regulatory changes and oversight methodology updates.
• Contribute to Risk Picture and SRP as applicable.
• Process exemptions and permissions requests.
• Ensure Quality Control of Operator Approval documents.
