Job summary

Mitie Cleaning & Hygiene Services is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to support mechanical maintenance at a busy aviation engineering facility in Wales. The role covers planned and reactive maintenance to ensure equipment reliability, safety, and operational excellence.

You will work 40 hours weekly (Mon–Fri) at a site in Cardiff, with opportunities for training and career progression within Mitie’s comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Proven experience within Maintenance, Facilities Management, or Building Services.
• Relevant Mechanical Engineering qualification (City & Guilds Level 2/3 or equivalent).
• Full UK Driving Licence and strong IT literacy.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Deliver planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs across a range of mechanical systems and site equipment.
• Diagnose faults, carry out repairs, and maintain HVAC, pumping, compressed air, water, and fire protection systems.
• Support the maintenance of mechanical handling equipment, industrial doors, and associated infrastructure.
• Accurately complete maintenance records, work orders, and compliance documentation using CAFM systems.
• Contribute to project works, continuous improvement initiatives, and ensure all activities are completed in line with health, safety, and compliance standards.
