Job summary

Mitie is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for our operation at British Airways Engineering Wales (BAEW), Cardiff Airport. This permanent, full-time role involves delivering preventative maintenance and reactive repairs to a range of mechanical systems within a critical aviation environment.

You will diagnose faults, carry out repairs, and maintain HVAC, pumping, compressed air, water and fire protection systems, while supporting mechanical handling equipment and infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Must have maintenance/facilities management or building services experience.
• Full UK driving licence is required.
• Strong IT literacy and familiarity with CAFM/systems is preferred.
• Excellent communication skills; able to work independently or in a team.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations and safe systems of work.

Responsibilities

Role Responsibilities:

• Deliver planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs across a range of mechanical systems and site equipment.
• Diagnose faults, carry out repairs, and maintain HVAC, pumping, compressed air, water, and fire protection systems.
• Support the maintenance of mechanical handling equipment, industrial doors, and associated infrastructure.
• Accurately complete maintenance records, work orders, and compliance documentation using CAFM systems.
• Contribute to project works, continuous improvement initiatives, and ensure all activities are completed in line with health, safety, and compliance standards.

Required Qualifications:

• Proven experience within a Maintenance, Facilities Management, or Building Services environment.
• Relevant Mechanical Engineering qualification (City & Guilds Level 2/3 or equivalent).
• Good understanding of Health & Safety legislation and safe systems of work.
• Full UK Driving Licence and strong IT literacy skills.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
