Job summary

SII UK is seeking a Software Engineer for Autonomy to support the development, deployment and evolution of software, data and AI capabilities across defence and technology-focused environments.

You will join a newly established software development team and collaborate with software engineers, architects and DevOps to deliver secure, scalable solutions and enable digital transformation initiatives.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in C++ or equivalent safety-critical languages.
• Experience on Linux and/or Windows platforms.
• Knowledge of Python and modern software practices.
• Experience creating and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Understanding of DevOps, DevSecOps and Agile.
• Experience with cloud technologies, APIs and microservices.
• Knowledge of databases such as MySQL or MongoDB.
• Experience with autonomy systems integration.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in defence/aerospace or regulated environments.
• Ability to communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Degree or equivalent in engineering/software.
• Eligible to obtain UK Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test and deploy secure software solutions.
• Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated delivery.
• Develop reusable and scalable software capabilities.
• Support software products throughout their lifecycle.
• Conduct code reviews, debugging and troubleshooting.
• Contribute to secure development practices, threat modelling and vulnerability management.
• Work with architects and stakeholders to deliver integrated solutions.
• Implement APIs and third-party integrations.
• Produce high-quality technical documentation.
• Support innovation activities and PoCs.
