Autonomy Software Engineer — Secure CI/CD & AI Solutions

Job summary

Groupe SII in the United Kingdom seeks a Software Engineer for Autonomy to support the development, deployment and evolution of software, data and AI capabilities across complex defence programmes.

You will work with software engineers, architects and DevOps specialists to deliver secure, scalable software, APIs and autonomous system integrations, while adhering to safety-critical and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Strong C++ development experience.
• Experience on Linux and/or Windows.
• Knowledge of Python.
• Experience creating CI/CD pipelines.
• Understanding of DevOps, DevSecOps and Agile methodologies.
• Experience with cloud technologies, APIs and microservices.
• Knowledge of databases such as MySQL, MongoDB or similar.
• Experience with autonomy systems integration or autonomous software architectures.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Experience delivering software within defence, aerospace, medical or other regulated environments.
• Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Degree, HND or equivalent qualification in a relevant engineering or software discipline.
• Eligible to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC).

Responsibilities

• Develop, test and deploy secure software solutions.
• Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support automated delivery.
• Develop reusable and scalable software capabilities.
• Support software products throughout their lifecycle.
• Conduct code reviews, debugging and troubleshooting activities.
• Contribute to secure development practices, threat modelling and vulnerability management.
• Work closely with architects, engineers and stakeholders to deliver integrated solutions.
• Implement APIs and third-party integrations.
• Produce high-quality technical documentation.
• Support innovation activities, proof-of-concepts and continuous improvement initiatives.
