Job summary

SII UK is seeking a Software Engineer for Autonomy to join a new software development team. You will help develop secure software for autonomy, data integration and digital transformation across defence-oriented environments, collaborating with architects, DevOps and multidisciplinary stakeholders.

You will contribute to the creation of scalable software solutions, implement APIs, and maintain CI/CD pipelines while supporting lifecycle activities and documentation.

Qualifications

• Strong C++ development experience or knowledge of safety-critical languages.
• Experience on Linux and/or Windows platforms.
• Knowledge of Python and modern software practices.
• Experience creating and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Understanding of DevOps, DevSecOps and Agile methodologies.
• Experience with cloud technologies, APIs and microservices.
• Knowledge of databases such as MySQL, MongoDB or similar.
• Experience with autonomy systems integration or autonomous software architectures.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Experience delivering software within defence, aerospace, medical or other regulated environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test and deploy secure software solutions.
• Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support automated delivery.
• Develop reusable and scalable software capabilities.
• Support software products throughout their lifecycle.
• Conduct code reviews, debugging and troubleshooting activities.
• Contribute to secure development practices, threat modelling and vulnerability management.
• Work closely with architects, engineers and stakeholders to deliver integrated solutions.
• Implement APIs and third-party integrations.
• Produce high-quality technical documentation.
• Support innovation activities, proof-of-concepts and continuous improvement initiatives.
