Job summary

PRO-TAX RECRUITMENT LIMITED is seeking a Payroll Manager in Warrington to lead a team of four specialists and oversee payroll services for around 300 clients. This role emphasizes accuracy, compliance, and outstanding client service, with a focus on developing the payroll function and expanding the client base.

You will manage deadlines, mentor staff, and implement improvements, while working closely with the wider practice to enhance service delivery and client satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Significant payroll experience, ideally in an accountancy practice or payroll bureau.
• Experience managing and developing a payroll team.
• Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and processes.
• Experience managing a sizeable portfolio of payroll clients.
• CIPP or equivalent qualification desirable.
• Excellent attention to detail and client relationship skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage and develop a team of four payroll professionals.
• Oversee payroll services for a diverse portfolio of ~300 clients.
• Maintain high standards of accuracy, compliance and client service.
• Review payroll processes and ensure deadlines are met.
• Act as senior client contact, addressing queries and providing payroll guidance.
• Support and develop the existing team with coaching and mentoring.
• Identify process improvements across the payroll function.
• Build strong client relationships and help grow the service.
• Identify opportunities to grow the payroll client base and fee income.
• Collaborate with colleagues to identify service development and cross-referral.
