Job summary

The Methodist Church in Britain is seeking an Advanced Nurse Practitioner to join the New Road Surgery team. The post focuses on emergency minor illness, routine clinics and autonomous assessment, diagnosis, treatment and prescribing, including home visits.

The role is part-time (three to four days per week) and open to nurses or allied health professionals with independent prescribing and a Masters-level qualification. Registration with NMC or HCPC is required.

Qualifications

• Independent prescribing qualification.
• Masters level study (Level 7).
• Registered with the NMC or HCPC.

Responsibilities

• Undertake emergency minor illness and routine clinics as part of the advanced practitioner team.
• Manage a clinical caseload through telephone, face-to-face and home visit consultations, including triage.
• Assess, diagnose and plan treatment for undifferentiated presentations and for long-term or complex conditions.
• Prescribe and review medication in line with evidence-based practice, protocols and scope of practice.
• Initiate and interpret tests and investigations.
• Prioritise and intervene in complex, urgent or emergency situations, including emergency care.
• Collaborate with the primary care team and make and accept referrals, including to consultants.
• Participate in vaccination and immunisation programmes for adults and children.
• Advise patients on medicines, support adherence and promote self-care and healthy lifestyles.
• Keep accurate, contemporaneous patient records, using Read codes and following data protection rules.
• Maintain clinical standards through audit, peer review, guidance and continuing professional development.
• Attend significant event and clinical meetings and contribute to practice policies and procedures.
