Job summary

Silcom Recruitment Limited is seeking an experienced Workshop Controller to oversee a busy automotive workshop near Southampton. You will lead a team of skilled technicians, schedule work, monitor productivity, and ensure high service standards are maintained.

You will liaise with customers, review estimates and invoices, manage rotas and health and safety, and drive performance through effective leadership. Basic salary up to £34,000 plus a bonus, Monday to Friday 08:00-18:00, no weekends.

• Experience supervising workshop staff and coordinating daily activities.
• Strong leadership and communication skills in a busy automotive workshop.
• Ability to manage customer liaison, estimates and invoices.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily activities of workshop staff.
• Schedule and allocate work to ensure efficient operations.
• Monitor workflow and productivity to meet targets.
• Act as a liaison for customers, addressing their concerns and ensuring satisfaction.
• Review and approve service estimates, repairs, and invoices.
• Handle customer complaints and resolve issues.
• Ensure all work meets quality standards and industry regulations.
• Conduct regular inspections and audits of repairs and services.
• Recruit, train, and develop workshop staff.
• Manage staff performance reviews and provide feedback.
• Oversee staff rotas, absences, and attendance.
• Manage inventory of parts and workshop supplies.
• Ensure proper maintenance and functioning of workshop equipment.
• Implement and enforce health and safety standards.
• Analyse performance metrics and generate reports.
