Job summary

Gemini Accident Repair Centres is seeking a skilled Workshop Controller to oversee all repair operations at our Plymouth site. You will allocate work, lead daily progress meetings, and ensure compliance with manufacturer methods and safety standards.

You will mentor apprentices and coordinate with other departments to secure parts and schedule repairs, while maintaining high productivity and quality across the workshop.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in workshop management within an accident repair centre, bodyshop, or automotive environment.
• Knowledge of repair processes, manufacturer repair methods, and BS10125:2022 quality standards.
• Strong organisational and workflow management skills.
• Ability to allocate work effectively and monitor productivity across a multi-skilled team.
• Experience in supervising and developing workshop staff, including apprentices.
• Awareness of health, safety, and environmental compliance in a workshop environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to resolve operational or technical issues efficiently.
• Experience with workshop management software and digital job tracking systems.
• Knowledge of parts management, inventory control, and repair planning.
• Experience in continuous improvement initiatives within a workshop environment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and coordinate all repair processes from strip-down to final quality check.
• Allocate work to technicians based on skill, workload, and job priority to optimise efficiency.
• Lead daily production meetings to review job progress and escalate issues to the General Manager.
• Monitor workflow to identify and resolve technical, resource, or scheduling issues quickly.
• Ensure repairs are carried out in line with manufacturer repair methods and BS10125:2022 standards.
• Check that repair documentation and management systems are updated promptly.
• Maintain oversight of apprentices’ work under supervision.
• Communicate with VDAs, Customer Service, and other departments to ensure parts availability and repair planning.
