Royal Mail is undergoing significant technological transformation, transitioning to a predominantly mechanised parcel sortation process. £51,051 per annum, plus night shift allowance. Benefits include 22.5 days of annual leave plus bank holidays, a defined contribution pension scheme, and weekend shift allowances (£51 per Saturday, £102 per Sunday). A welcome bonus of £1,500 may be available, subject to terms and conditions.
The role requires flexibility to cover the Plymouth Mail Centre's shift rotation, including voluntary overtime and occasional shift pattern adjustments to meet operational needs. Standard shifts are 40 hours/week, with initial shifts from 07:00 to 15:30, Monday to Friday, with potential changes to meet operational demands.
Responsibilities include maintaining automation assets through preventative, predictive, and corrective tasks, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, fault logging, root cause analysis, and collaborating with operational stakeholders to enhance automation performance. The role involves working independently and as part of a team.
Qualified in electrical and mechanical engineering (minimum ONC Electrical Engineering/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent), with experience in automation equipment maintenance, understanding of health and safety legislation, and effective communication skills. A full UK driving license is required for site travel.
