Job summary

Hunter Selection is seeking an Automation Engineer in Newport to deliver PLC, SCADA and HMI solutions from concept to commissioning. You will be involved in PLC programming, HMI development and on-site commissioning across the UK and Ireland, with a typical shift 8am-4pm and flexible hours.

Salary up to 65,000 with annual bonus up to 20%. Travel to customer sites across the UK and Ireland is expected; pension, healthcare and training opportunities are included to support career progression.

Qualifications

• Experience with PLC programming in a manufacturing environment.
• Siemens, Mitsubishi and Allen Bradley PLC experience essential.
• SCADA experience desirable.
• Previous automation project experience.
• Knowledge of liquid processing systems, pumps, valves and instrumentation.
• Electrical or Electronic Engineering apprenticeship, HNC/HND or degree desirable.
• Ability and willingness to travel to customer sites across the UK and Ireland.
• Junior candidates with PLC experience will be considered and provided with training.

Responsibilities

• Develop and modify PLC software for automated process control systems.
• Design and configure HMI and SCADA applications.
• Deliver automation projects through all phases from design to commissioning.
• Participate in software testing, validation and final sign-off activities.
• Attend customer sites across the UK and Ireland for commissioning and start-up support.
• Work closely with customers and project teams to ensure successful project delivery.
• Work with process equipment including pumps, valves, temperature transmitters and liquid handling systems.
