Job summary

Permanent Futures Limited in Yorkshire operates a 24/7 continuous process plant and is seeking an Automation Engineer with hands-on maintenance experience to join our growing engineering team and keep automated production lines running at peak performance.

Reporting to the Chief Engineer, you will perform proactive and reactive maintenance, help achieve machine performance targets, conduct fault finding, and contribute to continuous improvement while maintaining accurate records.

Qualifications

• Hands-on maintenance experience in an automated manufacturing environment.
• Experience maintaining automated production machinery in a 24/7 continuous facility.
• Time served apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in engineering.

Responsibilities

• Daily plant inspections and monitoring of plant performance.
• Respond quickly to plant stoppages; plan/implement modifications to equipment.
• Carry out fault finding and repairs on equipment and plant.
• Ensure PPM schedules are maintained per current requirements.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and document work, root causes, and spares used.

Job description

We have an exciting opportunity available for a leading Yorkshire-based manufacturer operating a 24/7 continuous process plant. Here at Futures, we are looking for an Automation Engineer with hands‑on maintenance experience due to continued growth and expansion of the company.

Reporting into the Chief Engineer you will take responsibility for both proactive and reactive maintenance duties within this largely automated production environment. As a key member of the Engineering team, you will share responsibility for achieving budgeted machine performance targets and ensuring the machines are kept running to peak performance within the manufacturing unit. You need to have experience maintaining automated production machinery in a 24/7 continuous production facility.

Key Responsibilities

• Daily plant inspections, monitoring plant performance
• Facilitate a speedy response to all plant stoppages and plan/implement modifications to new and existing equipment
• Carry out fault finding diagnosis/repairs on equipment and plant
• Ensure the PPM schedules are maintained in accordance with the current requirements
• Continuous Improvement – identify new methods and procedures
• Ensure accurate & timely records are entered / recorded of all work carried out, root causes of failures and of spares / consumables used

Skills and Abilities

• Previous experience of working within an automated manufacturing environment
• Time served apprenticeship in an engineering discipline, holding an Electrical Engineering HND / HNC / BTEC / ONC / C&G Level 3 qualifications or higher
• Excellent communication skills
• Working well under pressure
