Job summary

CV Technical Limited is seeking a Controls Commissioning Engineer to join our engineering team. You will commission automated equipment from build completion through customer sign-off, working with bespoke automation systems to support successful project delivery.

The role requires programming PLCs and HMIs, troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems, and driving performance improvements across projects. Travel to customer sites across the UK and overseas is required.

Qualifications

• Relevant vocational qualifications or a recognised apprenticeship in electrical or mechanical discipline.
• Experience programming PLCs and HMIs using platforms such as Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi, Festo or Codesys.
• Knowledge of servo drives, VFDs, remote I/O, Ethernet and Profibus networks.
• Practical electrical, mechanical or pneumatic experience within the automation industry.
• Ability to interpret electrical and pneumatic schematics and technical drawings.
• Knowledge of six-axis robotic systems is desirable.
• Strong analytical, critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and use initiative when working from an outline brief.
• Health and safety procedures and industry guidelines knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Program and modify control systems including PLCs, servo drives, robots and specialist controllers.
• Troubleshoot and adjust electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and control equipment.
• Carry out fault finding and assess operation of mechanisms and complex systems.
• Modify electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and software systems to improve performance.
• Identify and recommend opportunities for system improvements.
• Conduct structured testing to establish system capabilities and limitations.
• Record test results and maintain documentation of modifications.
• Provide regular feedback to project teams to support progress.
• Participate in internal design reviews for current and future projects.
• Travel to customer sites across the UK and overseas when required.
