Job summary

CV Technical Limited is seeking a Controls Commissioning Engineer to commission automated equipment from build through customer inspection. You will work on bespoke automation systems, applying your technical skills to solve challenges and ensure project delivery.

The role involves programming PLCs/HMI platforms, debugging servo drives and robotics, and travelling to customer sites across the UK and abroad as required.

Qualifications

• Vocational qualifications or a recognised apprenticeship in an electrical or mechanical discipline.
• Experience programming PLCs and HMIs on Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi, Festo or Codesys.
• Knowledge of servo drives, VFDs, remote I/O, Ethernet and Profibus networks.
• Electrical, mechanical or pneumatic experience in automation.
• Ability to read electrical and pneumatic schematics and drawings.
• Knowledge of six-axis robotic systems is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Programme and modify control systems, including PLCs, servo drives, robots and specialist controllers.
• Troubleshoot and adjust mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and control equipment.
• Carry out fault finding and assess the operation of individual mechanisms and complex systems.
• Modify electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and software systems to improve performance.
• Identify and recommend opportunities for system improvements.
• Conduct structured testing to establish system capabilities and limitations.
• Record test results and maintain accurate documentation of modifications.
• Provide regular feedback to project teams to support progress monitoring.
• Participate in internal design reviews for current and future projects.
• Travel to customer sites across the UK and overseas when required.
