Job summary

ABB LTD in Birmingham, West Midlands is seeking an Automated Paint Technician with proven ABB robot systems experience to support and improve the automated paint operation. You will operate, maintain and optimise ABB IRB 5510 paint robots, adjust programs for better coverage and cycle time, and ensure correct paint preparation and material handling.

• Hands-on experience with ABB IRB 5510 paint robots.
• Strong practical experience in paint mixing and preparation.
• Experience optimizing robot programs to improve coverage and cycle time.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain ABB IRB 5510 paint robots.
• Adjust robot programs to improve paint coverage and cycle time.
• Mix and prepare paints to required specs and ratios.
• Measure and adjust paint viscosity as needed.
• Prepare paints, thinners and hardeners per specs.
• Ensure correct batches, colours and materials for production.
• Troubleshoot paint mixing, application and robotic process issues.
• Monitor and adjust painting parameters to stabilise the process.
• Support colour changes, line changeovers and cleaning activities.
• Carry out preventative maintenance and basic robotic checks.
• Support new product introductions and development of paint programs.
• Adjust robot paths, speeds and spray settings as required.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Maintenance, Production and Quality teams.
