Job summary

Think FE Ltd invites applications for a Motor Vehicle Skills Trainer / Assessor in Tyne and Wear. This part-time, temporary role offers 2.5 days per week and an hourly pay of £25–£30, with potential permanent conversion.

Start date ASAP and in-person work location. You will deliver training and assess learners across automotive apprenticeships, conduct on-site visits, review progress with learners and employers, and maintain records in e-portfolio systems.

Pay: £25 - 30 per hour (Temporary)

Are you an experienced Motor Vehicle Trainer or Assessor looking for a flexible, part-time opportunity?

Think FE is working with a well-established training provider in Tyne and Wear that is looking for a knowledgeable and motivated Motor Vehicle Skills Trainer / Assessor to join its team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to support apprentices and industry professionals in developing their technical skills, achieving recognised qualifications and progressing in their careers.

With just 2.5 days per week and the flexibility of a temporary or permanent contract, this role could be ideal for someone seeking a better work-life balance.

The Role

As a Motor Vehicle Skills Trainer / Assessor, you'll play an important role in supporting learners through their apprenticeship programmes, providing practical guidance, assessing competence and ensuring they develop the skills needed to succeed in the workplace.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Delivering training and assessment across relevant automotive, engineering and maintenance apprenticeship programmes.
• Conducting workplace visits to assess learners' practical skills and progress.
• Carrying out regular reviews with apprentices and employers to support achievement and progression.
• Maintaining accurate learner records and updating e-portfolio systems.
• Supporting the delivery of accredited qualifications, commercial training and individual training units where required.
• Working closely with employers, learners and awarding organisations to ensure high-quality training and assessment.
• Helping learners build confidence, develop their technical knowledge and achieve their qualifications.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

• A recognised Assessor qualification (such as A1, D32/D33 or CAVA).
• A Level 3 qualification in Motor Vehicle / Automotive Studies or a closely related discipline.
• Strong practical knowledge and experience within the automotive industry.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• A genuine interest in supporting apprentices and helping others develop their skills.

Desirable:

• Previous experience assessing apprentices in a workplace setting.
• Experience using e-portfolio systems.
• Knowledge of apprenticeship standards, assessment requirements and awarding body processes.
