Qualifications

• Strong industry background in Vehicle Maintenance & Repair.
• Level 3 qualification in Motor Vehicle Maintenance & Repair or equivalent.
• Recognised assessor qualification (A1, D32/D33, TAQA or CAVA) or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Assess apprentices completing Vehicle Maintenance & Repair qualifications.
• Conduct workplace visits across MOD sites, including Tidworth, Lyneham, Warminster, Colerne, Larkhill and Bulford.
• Observe practical work and assess occupational competence.
• Review learner portfolios and assessment evidence.
• Monitor learner progress and provide constructive feedback.
• Support apprentices in achieving qualifications and completing programmes.
• Maintain accurate assessment records and ensure compliance with awarding body requirements.

Vehicle Mechanic Assessor

Location: South West / Wiltshire (Field-Based)

Salary: £41,000 + £4,550 Car Allowance

Contract: Permanent, Full-Time

We’re recruiting for a Vehicle Mechanic Assessor to join a training provider, supporting apprentices across MOD sites throughout Wiltshire and the South West.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced automotive assessor, or a qualified vehicle mechanic with an assessing qualification, looking to support the next generation of skilled vehicle technicians.

The Role

• Assess apprentices completing Vehicle Maintenance & Repair qualifications
• Conduct workplace visits across MOD sites, including Tidworth, Lyneham, Warminster, Colerne, Larkhill and Bulford
• Observe practical work and assess occupational competence
• Review learner portfolios and assessment evidence
• Monitor learner progress and provide constructive feedback
• Support apprentices in achieving their qualifications and completing their programmes

• Liaise with employers, apprentices and training teams

Requirements

• Strong industry background in Vehicle Maintenance & Repair, ideally including heavy or light vehicles
• Level 3 qualification in Motor Vehicle Maintenance & Repair or equivalent
• Recognised assessor qualification such as A1, D32/D33, TAQA or CAVA
• Experience assessing apprentices or vocational qualifications
• Good understanding of apprenticeship standards and workplace assessment
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the region
