Job summary

GSL Education is seeking an Autism Support Worker to work in Sunderland schools. The role focuses on helping children and young people access learning, develop social and communication skills, and build confidence within the school environment.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people with ASC is desirable.
• Experience in education, care, youth work or similar settings is advantageous.
• Strong understanding of autism and related communication, sensory, and behavioural needs.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).

Requirements of an Autism Support Worker:

• Previous experience supporting children or young people with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) is desirable.
• Experience working within education, care, youth work, support work, or a similar setting is advantageous.
• A strong understanding of autism and associated communication, sensory, and behavioural needs.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
• A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to supporting young people.
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
