Job summary

Horizon Teachers is working with a welcoming primary/specialist SEN school in Enfield to recruit caring Teaching Assistants to support pupils with autism (ASD). You’ll work in small specialist classes or 1:1, helping children feel safe and settled so they can learn and grow in confidence.

Role includes supporting ASD pupils with targets, using Makaton/PECS, and recording progress for teachers and parents. DBS checks and QTS/equivalents may apply.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with ASD in school, childcare or care settings.
• Calm, patient and consistent approach with pupils and families.
• Good communication to build trust with children and staff.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with ASD one-to-one or in small groups.
• Follow EHCP targets and use visual timetables/PECS/Makaton.
• Help pupils manage anxiety and sensory overload and adapt activities.
