Job summary

Veritas Education Recruitment Ltd are recruiting an Autism Support Assistant for a specialist school in Newton Aycliffe. You will provide 1:1 and small group support to learners with autism and additional needs, helping them access tailored learning plans and participate in class activities.

The role is full-time on a long-term temporary basis with potential for permanency for the right candidate; start September or ASAP.

Qualifications

• Experience working within SEN provision or with children/young people with additional needs.
• Demonstrate patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners.
• Can build strong, positive relationships with pupils and staff.
• Are resilient, proactive, and adaptable.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to learners with autism.
• Assist with the delivery of tailored learning plans.
• Support pupils' social, emotional, and behavioural development.
• Promote a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment.
• Work collaboratively with teaching staff and SEN professionals.
