Job summary

Supply Desk is seeking a dedicated 1:1 Autism Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school in Iver. You will provide personalised 1:1 support to a pupil with Autism, helping them access learning, develop independence, and engage with activities throughout the day.

This full-time role starts September 2026. You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO, implement individualised strategies, and monitor the pupil’s progress while upholding safeguarding requirements.

Qualifications

• A patient, calm, empathetic, and supportive approach to working with children.
• Ability to build positive relationships and provide consistent 1:1 support.
• Good understanding of autism and how it can affect learning, communication and behaviour.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with Autism, helping them access learning and participate fully in school life.
• Support the pupil with their academic, social, emotional, and communication development.
• Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement individualised support strategies and learning plans.
• Adapt learning activities, resources, and communication approaches to meet the pupil’s individual needs.
• Encourage positive behaviour and use appropriate strategies to support emotional regulation and engagement.
• Help the pupil develop confidence, independence, communication, and social skills.
• Provide support during lessons, break times, lunchtimes, and other school activities where required.
• Monitor the pupil’s progress, engagement, and behaviour, providing regular feedback to the class teacher and SENCO.
• Build a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil, creating a safe, calm, and inclusive learning environment.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, parents, and other professionals involved in the pupil’s care and education.
• Ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are followed at all times.
