Job summary

Protocol Education is recruiting a full-time Autism Support Assistant to join a specialist educational setting in North Shields. You’ll provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support to learners with ASC and additional needs, helping them access lessons through clear, structured guidance and building confidence in a calm, inclusive environment.

Ideal candidates are patient, adaptable and able to maintain consistency, with strong communication and teamwork.

Qualifications

• You’ll be patient, compassionate and able to adapt your approach to each learner.

Responsibilities

• Providing tailored 1:1 and small-group support
• Helping pupils access lessons through clear, structured guidance
• Supporting communication, social interaction and independence
• Using consistent strategies to support emotional regulation
• Adapting activities and resources to meet individual needs
• Building positive and trusting relationships with learners
• Working closely with teachers, therapists and wider school staff
• Recognising and celebrating progress, however small
