Edison Young People Education is recruiting a Teaching Assistant – Autism Spectrum Disorder Specialist for The Place Independent School in Nottinghamshire. You will work closely with pupils who have ASD, providing consistent, person-centred support tailored to each child’s needs to help them access lessons and engage in learning.

The role requires understanding autism, patience and the ability to collaborate with teachers and other professionals to deliver individualised support and safeguarding

Qualifikationen

• Experience of working with children or young people.
• Understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder and how it affects communication, social interaction and learning.
• Patience, calmness, and consistency in supporting pupils.

Aufgaben

• Understand that behavior may be a form of communication and respond calmly to distressed pupils.
• Identify triggers and signs a pupil is overwhelmed.
• Implement individual education and support plans with teachers.
• Prepare learning materials and provide prompts or scaffolding.
• Promote safeguarding and report concerns promptly.
• Work with multidisciplinary school team and external professionals.
• Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with ASD.
