Job summary

Aspire People is recruiting an Autism Specialist Teacher to work in a Leicester specialist school setting. This role suits an experienced teacher who has a deep understanding of autism and a passion for creating a calm, inclusive learning environment.

You will tailor lessons for pupils with autism and a range of needs, using consistent approaches and close collaboration with teaching assistants and professionals to help each pupil access learning and progress.

Qualifications

  • QTS is essential.
  • Previous experience working with children with autism or complex SEN.
  • Strong understanding of autism and individualised teaching approaches.
  • Experience working within a primary or specialist education setting.
  • A patient, nurturing and adaptable approach.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and supporting pupil wellbeing.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and accessible lessons tailored to pupils with autism and additional needs.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to meet individual learning and communication needs.
  • Support pupils with sensory needs, emotional regulation and social development.
  • Work alongside teaching assistants and other professionals to provide consistent support.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils and encourage their confidence and independence.
  • Maintain a calm, structured and inclusive classroom environment.
