Job summary

Aspire People is seeking experienced SEND Teaching Assistants to support pupils with autism and additional needs across primary schools and specialist provisions. The role focuses on 1:1 and small-group support, helping learners access the curriculum, and promoting communication and emotional regulation within a supportive education team.

Ideal candidates will have a patient, nurturing approach, strong communication skills, and previous SEND experience.

Qualifications

  • Previous professional experience supporting pupils with SEND.
  • Experience working with autism/ASD is highly desirable.
  • Experience within a SEND school, specialist provision or resource base would be advantageous.
  • Confident providing 1:1 support and adapting approaches.

Responsibilities

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support
  • Supporting pupils with autism and additional needs
  • Helping pupils access learning and the wider curriculum
  • Supporting communication and social development
  • Promoting independence and confidence
  • Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour
  • Adapting activities to meet individual needs
  • Supporting sensory and structured activities where appropriate
  • Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and wider support teams
  • Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback
