Job summary

Saint Paul’s Catholic High School in the Autism Resource Provision is seeking a Teaching Assistant Level 3 to provide high-quality, personalised support to pupils with autism, helping them regulate, engage in learning, develop independence and participate in school life.

The role collaborates with teachers, Resource Provision team, pastoral staff and families to understand needs, employing a calm, autism-informed approach to support communication, regulation and learning outcomes for pupils with

Qualifications

• Experience of working with children or young people with SEND, ideally including pupils with autism.
• Good understanding of autism and the potential impact of communication, sensory processing, anxiety and environmental demands on a young person’s ability to regulate and learn.
• Be able to establish positive, respectful and trusting relationships with pupils.
• Have a calm, patient and consistent approach, particularly when supporting pupils experiencing anxiety or dysregulation.
• Be able to recognise individual differences and adapt their approach accordingly.
• Have strong communication and interpersonal skills; be able to work in a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, personalised support to pupils with autism within the Autism Resource Provision.
• Work with teachers, Resource Provision team, pastoral staff, families and professionals to understand needs.
• Contribute to the delivery of personalised learning programmes and interventions, supporting pupils within the Resource Provision and mainstream lessons as appropriate.
