Job summary

North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting an Autism Pathway Navigator to support families through the diagnostic assessment process, liaise with the pathway team, and improve experiences for carers. The role involves welfare checks, information provision, and advocacy within the MDT to help children and young people access timely assessments.

Qualifications

• Evidence of ability to study successfully at NVQ level 4 or equivalent
• Information technology skills sufficient to the undertaking of the post
• Experience of supporting children / family / carers of those with autism.
• Managing own workload with effective liaison with others.
• Able to work autonomously and as a member of the multi-disciplinary team
• Knowledge of strategies and interventions relevant to children and young people with autism
• Knowledge of issues affecting families and parenting needs of children
• Knowledge of available support services and referral routes
• Knowledge of legislation and developments relevant to the field of children and autism.
• Criminal records Bureau enhanced clearance.
• Ability to travel frequently to different work bases.
• Full driving licence

Responsibilities

• Support the Autism Pathway team to manage the waiting list and act as a point of contact for parents and families awaiting assessment.
• Perform welfare checks and keep families updated on their children's progress along the pathway.
• Help families understand the Autism Pathway and enhance connections to local communities.
• Lead advocacy for the child/young person and family carers within the service and MDT.
• Liaise with clinical colleagues for cases needing action (reports, appointments).
• Ensure Autism Tracker is updated to reflect current position for reporting.
