Job summary

Staffordshire County Council is hiring a part-time Communication Support Worker for The Orme Academy Resource Base. You will work 26 hours per week across Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday (8:20am–3:20pm), starting 2 November 2026.

You will support autistic young people to access learning, collaborate with teaching staff, and help create an autism-friendly classroom environment across the school day.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with autistic young people in an educational setting.
• Commitment to supporting inclusion and positive outcomes for autistic students.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support to autistic learners in the Resource Base, helping access learning and coursework.
• Support autistic learners in mainstream lessons and transitions, promoting independence.
• Help develop a welcoming autism-friendly Resource Base for diverse needs.
• Collaborate with staff to promote autism awareness and inclusive practice.
• Promote social, emotional and personal development for autistic students.
• Work with families and professionals to ensure a consistent, person-centred approach.
