Job summary

The Orme Academy, The Orme Academy, Staffordshire is seeking a part-time Communication Support Worker to join the Autism Inclusion Team within the High School Resource Base. You will support autistic students to access learning and participate in school life, under guidance from teaching staff.

The role is 26 hours per week (4 days: Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri), 8:20am–3:20pm, starting 2 November 2026, with potential cover at other locations and occasional transport duties.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with autistic young people in an educational setting.
• A commitment to supporting inclusion and positive outcomes for autistic students.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• GCSE Grade 4 (or equivalent) in English and Maths.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support to autistic young people within the Resource Base, helping them to access learning and engage in school life.
• Support the delivery of curriculum activities and coursework under teaching staff guidance.
• Assist autistic learners in mainstream lessons and during transitions, promoting independence and confidence.
• Help develop a welcoming, autism-friendly Resource Base and inclusive environment.
• Collaborate with families and professionals to ensure a consistent, person-centred approach.
