Job summary

Veritas Education Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Behaviour and Autism Support Assistant for Harrogate and North Yorkshire. You will work 1:1 with students, helping them access the curriculum, develop social skills and manage behaviour in a supportive school setting.

You will collaborate with teachers, the behaviour support team and SLT to create a safe, inclusive learning environment across multiple sites for ages 2–19 with varying needs.

Responsibilities

• Support learners throughout day-to-day activities and schedule, within the classroom and around the school setting.
• De-escalate challenging behaviour in a calm, controlled manner, prioritising learner well-being.
• Assist the class teacher to help all learners access their education, whether the set-out lesson or a specialised timetable.
• Record learner progression and behaviour using system logs alongside classroom staff and SLT.
• Assist with personal care, hygiene support and other medical requirements as needed.
• Attend safeguarding, Team Teach and other SEN focused development training as required.
