Job summary

Empowering Learning in Wakefield is recruiting Behaviour Support Workers/Teaching Assistants to support pupils in a Primary and Secondary Special Needs School. Roles are 1:1 or small group, starting September, temp to perm. Pay £100-£110 per day, school hours 8.30 - 3.30pm, Monday to Friday.

You will work with children with autism, challenging behaviours and communication needs, assisting with classroom activities and contributing to a nurturing, inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Experience with children, especially those with special needs.
• Knowledge of special education practices.
• Strong communication with students, parents, and colleagues.
• Ability to stay patient and empathetic.

Responsibilities

• Assist lead teacher with educational activities and programs.
• Support students 1:1 or in small groups, including those with autism.
• Help create a positive, inclusive learning environment.
• Assist with daily tasks and personal care where needed.
• Collaborate to implement IEPs and monitor progress.
• Support classroom management and behaviour strategies.
