Job summary

Hawthorne-Finch Talent Solutions is seeking an Audit Semi-Senior / Senior for a Huddersfield-based accountancy practice. You will manage end-to-end audits, from planning through finalisation, and work closely with managers and partners on a diverse client portfolio.

The role offers a structured 12–18 month progression to full Senior status, with mentoring to elevate technical confidence. Hybrid working with local client travel supports work-life balance.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2+ years’ UK accountancy practice experience with exposure to external audit.
• ACA/ACCA part-qualified, finalist, or newly qualified.
• Experience in audit fieldwork, testing, and drafting statutory financial statements under UK GAAP (FRS 102).
• Ability to mentor junior staff and progress to leading on-site audit teams.
• Proficiency in Iris, Xero, CCH and MS Excel with confident client-facing communication.

Are you an ambitious auditor with hands-on engagement experience looking to step up and take ownership of full end-to-end audits over the next 12–18 months? Our client is an established, highly respected accountancy practice based in Huddersfield. Known for their collaborative team culture, impressive client base, and focus on staff development, they are looking for an Audit Semi-Senior or newly qualified Senior to join their expanding audit and assurance team.

The Opportunity

This is the ideal role if you already have solid audit experience under your belt but want to transition into managing complete assignments from planning to final completion. Working closely with experienced managers and partners, you will work on a diverse portfolio of regional businesses, SMEs, and corporate groups. You will receive structured, hands‑on mentorship designed to elevate your technical confidence and fast‑track your progression to full Senior status within 12 to 18 months.

Key Responsibilities & Requirements

• Experience & Qualifications: Minimum 2+ years’ UK accountancy practice experience with a strong exposure to external audit. ACA/ACCA part‑qualified, finalist, or newly qualified.
• Audit Expertise: Practical experience participating in audit fieldwork, testing, and drafting statutory financial statements under UK GAAP (FRS 102).
• Supervisory Potential: Ability to mentor junior staff and trainees as you progress into leading on‑site audit teams.
• Technical & Interpersonal Skills: Proficiency in modern audit and accounting software (e.g., Iris, Xero, CCH, MS Excel), paired with confident client‑facing communication skills.
