Brewer Morris is seeking an Audit Manager/Senior Manager to lead a Cambridge portfolio within a Top 20 accountancy practice. You will take ownership of client relationships, guide technically complex audits, and contribute to service line development.

The role emphasizes leadership, quality, and collaboration with Partners in a supportive culture. Based in Cambridge, you will influence the growth of the practice while maintaining a strong focus on work-life balance and professional development

Qualifications

  • ACA or ACCA qualification or equivalent.
  • Proven experience at Audit Manager or Senior Manager level in a UK accountancy practice.
  • Strong knowledge of UK GAAP, FRS 102 and audit regulations; IFRS exposure is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop a portfolio of audit clients, acting as a trusted advisor and primary relationship contact.
  • Lead planning, delivery and completion of complex audit engagements with quality and deadlines.
  • Review audit files and provide technical oversight across multiple engagements.
  • Coach, mentor and develop Audit Seniors, Managers and Assistant Managers.
  • Collaborate with Partners to identify opportunities for additional services and client retention.
  • Provide commercially focused insights to clients and senior stakeholders.
  • Support practice growth through networking, proposals and wider firm initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and firm-wide audit quality standards.

My client is a Top 20 Accountancy Practice looking to further strengthen their Audit team with the appointment of an Audit Manager or Senior Manager to be based out of their Cambridge office. The firm has a well-established presence in Cambridgeshire and nationally, servicing a diverse portfolio of clients ranging from ambitious owner-managed businesses through to large corporate and international groups across a broad range of sectors.

Main responsibilities:
  • Manage and develop a portfolio of audit clients, acting as a trusted advisor and primary relationship contact
  • Lead the planning, delivery and completion of complex audit engagements, ensuring quality standards and deadlines are consistently achieved
  • Review audit files and provide technical oversight, guidance and challenge across multiple engagements
  • Coach, mentor and develop Audit Seniors, Managers and Assistant Managers, fostering a high-performing team culture
  • Work closely with Partners to identify opportunities for additional services, support business development initiatives and contribute to client retention strategies
  • Provide commercially focused insights and recommendations to clients and senior stakeholders
  • Support practice growth through networking, proposal work and participation in wider firm initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and firm-wide audit quality standards
Requirements:
  • ACA or ACCA qualified (or equivalent)
  • Proven experience operating at Audit Manager or Senior Manager level within a UK accountancy practice
  • Strong technical knowledge of UK GAAP, FRS 102 and audit regulations, with IFRS exposure advantageous
  • Experience managing a substantial client portfolio across SME, mid-market and corporate clients
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, develop and motivate high-performing audit teams
  • Strong stakeholder management and client relationship-building skills
  • Commercially minded with an interest in contributing to practice growth
  • Based in or commutable to Cambridge
