Job summary

An established and growing independent accountancy practice in Leeds is seeking an experienced Audit Manager to lead the Audit & Accounts team. You will manage a varied portfolio of audit clients, plan and review assignments, and develop client relationships as a trusted adviser.

The role combines client delivery with departmental leadership, budgeting, and staff development. The ideal candidate will be ACA or ACCA qualified with UK audit experience, strong technical knowledge, and a proactive,

Qualifications

• ACA or ACCA qualification (or equivalent).
• Significant audit experience gained within a UK accountancy practice.
• Experience managing a portfolio of audit clients.
• Exposure to accounts preparation/review (preferred but not essential).
• Strong technical knowledge of UK auditing and accounting standards.
• Experience managing and developing team members.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines.
• A proactive and commercially aware approach to client service.

Responsibilities

• Managing a portfolio of audit clients across a broad range of sectors.
• Planning, reviewing and completing audit assignments from start to finish.
• Building and maintaining strong client relationships, acting as a trusted adviser.
• Reviewing financial statements and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting and auditing standards.
• Supporting accounts preparation and review where appropriate.
• Managing audit budgets, timelines and team resources.
• Supervising, mentoring and developing junior members of the team.
• Conducting appraisals and supporting ongoing staff development.
• Assisting with departmental planning, workflow management and operational improvements.
• Identifying opportunities to improve client service and contribute to business development where appropriate.
