Job summary

Pro-Finance in Manchester is seeking an experienced Audit Manager to lead audit engagements from planning to completion, working closely with senior managers and directors to deliver high quality services across a diverse client portfolio.

The ideal candidate holds ACA/ACCA, has practice-based audit experience, can mentor juniors, ensures compliance with UK standards and risk management, and contributes to a collaborative team culture with strong client relationships.

Qualifications

  • ACA, ACCA or an equivalent professional accounting qualification.
  • Experience managing audit and accounts assignments in an accountancy practice.
  • Strong understanding of audit quality, regulatory requirements and risk management.
  • Excellent client relationship management and communication skills.
  • Proven experience leading, mentoring and developing junior team members.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of UK accounting and auditing standards, including FRS and IFRS.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues and recommend practical solutions.
  • Experience using CCH and/or Inflo would be advantageous, although full training will be provided.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage audit assignments, ensuring projects are delivered on time and to a high standard.
  • Act as the main point of contact for clients throughout audit engagements, responding to queries and maintaining strong working relationships.
  • Supervise, mentor and review the work of junior team members, providing regular guidance and constructive feedback.
  • Prepare engagement budgets, monitor progress against targets and proactively address any variances.
  • Manage billing processes by monitoring time and resources to ensure engagements remain commercially effective.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant auditing and accounting standards throughout each assignment.
  • Promote a positive, collaborative team culture and support the resolution of day-to-day people matters where appropriate.
  • Work closely with directors to ensure client expectations are met and departmental objectives are achieved.
  • Complete administrative and ad hoc tasks to support the efficient delivery of audit engagements.
